"The world was my oyster until I used the wrong fork"

Manners & Me

About the Class

"The world was my oyster….until I used the wrong fork." - Oscar WildeÕs remark rings true, possibly more so today than when it was spoken. In our "instant everything" age, we now have only 3 seconds to make a first impression. 85% of our success depends on our manners. In fact, the #1 reason given by businesses for not hiring job applicants is ……. poor social skills. It is also one of the top reasons for releasing an employee during the first 2 years of employment.

DonÕt despair. ItÕs not all bleak. There is hope.

Research indicates the best time to start social skills training is between the ages of 2 & 5. Galaxy Etiquette & Protocol has developed age appropriate, interactive programs that allow children to be themselves, have fun and…….be polite! The earlier your child begins social skills training the more natural polite behavior will be. In fact, our programs are designed so that polite behavior, confidence and high self-esteem become as natural as breathing in and breathing out.

In Etiquette & Cotillion each class is divided into 3 segments. A manners segment ensures your child develops exceptional social skills from sharing, working with others, respect and courtesy through introductions, telephone/netiquette, dealing with bullies and beyond. Our teen programs include Prom/date etiquette, moving on to college and job etiquette. Our table manners segment covers all aspects of dinning skills from finger food to fine dining. No more "McManners" for these lucky students! Our third section covers the social and dance skills of cotillion, including receiving lines, dance cards and a through understanding of the fundamentals of dance. Once the fundamentals are mastered all dances become easy. Instead of providing an "introduction" to etiquette and cotillion skills, we work at the childrenÕs pace to ensure they understand and have mastered each one.

In this program 2 & 3 year olds begin to learn manners and the social skills that are so necessary in todayÕs world. Through the use of games, songs, stories, and art activities children learn concepts such as sharing, respect for self & others and simple table manners. Music with play provides the fore runner to ballroom & cotillion.

"Mommy, Me & Manners" is the ideal start to manners and being polite for the child who prefers the security of a familiar face during these early steps forward. Mom (or Dad) spend quality time with their children while establishing a solid base for the social skills so necessary in life today.

"Manners & Me" covers the material in Mommy, Me & Manners and moves forward. This class is for the child who is ready to move into new surroundings for a short time. Stories, songs, games and play are used to teach such basics as sharing, polite words and table manners.
